Niklas Ekstedt, the restaurateur of Stockholm’s Michelin starred Ekstedt restaurant, brings a primal cooking style to The Great Nordic Feast by harnessing the power of an open fire rather than electricity or gas. With innovative recipes and tried and tested techniques, Ekstedt has had a profound impact worldwide. His early training at El Bulli in Spain and working with renowned chef Charlie Trotter in the US, helped to inspire him and ensured bringing his culinary talents to the fore. Author of five books, Ekstedt has published Food from the Fire in September 2016, his first book with a British publisher.
Ekstedt is renowned in Nordic countries for his long-running Swedish food and travel TV series “Niklas Mat” ie. “Niklas Food” and has appeared in many other shows globally. His second restaurant, called Niklas, celebrates both his Swedish food memories and those from his global explorations. On Christmas Day 2016 Ekstedt opened a wine café, Tyge and Sessil. Ekstedt is the Nordic culinary star who has put Stockholm’s exploding food scene on the world map.
Niklas Ekstedt has taken a break from filming a new Scandinavian cooking TV series for the American PBS network in order to be at The Great Nordic Feast at London Southbank.
